This is what we call, "If I'm going down, you're coming with me! (and have a nice day)" ;o)

I REALLY love how you did the planet in the last frame!

btw....how DID you do that??? (if I may be so bold as to ask)

Thanks a lot for your kind words! The planet shot was a bit of a cheat, I think what I did at the time was I found a weather balloon photo and changed and added to it: (clouds/glow/texture/stamp tooled areas from another pic). I had made a planet to do shots like this at a really high res but this zoomed in it was still blocky despite being gigantic.

The ships are 3D and overlayed onto the planet and then I added the combat effects to fit the scene. I hope it comes across properly is all, re-entry and lots of pew pews. And it gets much worse haha

You're welcome! And the pic works well!

And we do what we have to! I'm not above using Google Sketchup for buildings and cityscapes. (I seriously SUCK at perspective architecture drawing) So whatever works say I! (besides they do that at Marvel too, so if the pros do it, I don't feel too bad about it.)

Really, I don't consider it a cheat. Comic artists are visual storytellers, not Renaissance master painters. We're out to tell a story, not create the next Mona Lisa. And anything that aids in telling the story is good in my book.

This is true. I said cheat only because it's mostly changed pic of earth haha. But that's some neat ideas indeed.
For the ships I've been using Swift3D because it's simple and exports directly to flash with some nice results.

Well, I have neither Flash nor Swift 3D, but, I find Sketchup to be pretty simple.

And I've other software called Sculptris that is very easy to use. Its like working with modeling clay and it's free too.

But, if that works for you, have at it! I like the results :D

Same to you! :U
Cityscapes are hard and are just a pain to render by hand so I agree, screw it and 3D that crap up haha.

I agree! I read a lot of Golden Age comics online, and even a lot of the old masters simplified the buildings because they were such a PITA to draw in detail.

If you're curious here's a link to an online site that has a ton of them: [link]

That's neat, thanks for sharing. It's certainly not my sorta thing but it is interesting to see anyway, I'll be browsing these a lot. :)

Honestly I don't read many comics, which is odd for a comic creator I guess eh? I read a lot of spiderman of the clone saga (Very unpopular apparently) some random mangas etc. I guess I'll have golden age comics to add to my list hehe.
